BORIS VIAN, FROTH ON THE DAYDREAM & MOOD INDIGO

I first fell in love with Boris Vian when I was 18, which was a shame, because he’d already been dead for 12 years. Vian’s L’écume des jours (Froth on the Daydream) is one of my favourite novels and has just been filmed by Michel Gondry, with Romain Duris and Audrey Tautou in the leading roles. The English title is Mood Indigo.

Not only was Vian dangerously good-looking and prodigiously accomplished, he also liked cats. I’ll be digging out a photograph of him with a cat at some point soon, but for the time being you’ll have to make do with this one. Please click on it to zoom, via the magic of the internet, to an article I wrote on Mood Indigo and Boris Vian for the Telegraph.
